Gosar tweeted an edited version of the opening credits of the Japanese anime series “Attack on Titan” showing himself as the main character who then slashes the neck of a foe with Ocasio-Cortez’s face. Also, President Obama has him swing his swords at a foe. Joe Biden’s face superimposed on it.
Gosar is whose own family membersposters decrying his past behavior, have repeatedly been linkedTo the preparation of Jan. 6th riot at U.S. Capitol defended the Donald Trump supporters who stormed the building as “peaceful patriots.”
Ocasio-Cortez responded to the incident by highlighting Gosar’s white nationalist ties. She tagged House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, saying that Gosar would “face no consequences” because the Republican leader “cheers him on with excuses.”
Gosar, despite his association with white nationalist militia and other groups as well his past of extremism in politics, has managed to avoid being censured by the Republican leadership. McCarthy denied knowing about the fundraising event when confronted. McCarthy accepted McCarthy’s excuse. did not denounce his actionsIt was not the case with any of his GOP co-workers.
Democratic lawmakers including Reps. Ted Lieu (Calif.), Jamie Raskin (Md.Ilhanomar (Minn.), Jason Crow(Colo.), Eric Swalwell, Calif.), Cori bush (Mo.) are just a few of the Democratic legislators. and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) slammed Gosar’s video.
Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger, Illinois (Ill.), joined them and predicted that McCarthy would avoid the topic instead of actively condemning it.
“This is sick behavior from Rep. Paul Gosar,” Lieu tweeted. “In any workplace in America, if a coworker made an anime video killing another coworker, that person would be fired.” He called for Gosar to be removed from congressional committees.
Raskin said Gosar’s “conduct is grotesque, dangerous and utterly disgraceful to the United States House of Representatives” and said “we must address” it.
Bush called forHe was expelled from Congress. Tlaib stated that his party had to rein him in.

McCarthy’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Gosar’s digital director, Jessica Lycos, told The Washington Post in a statement Monday night that “it’s a cartoon” and “everyone needs to relax.”
Numerous prominent Twitter personalities spoke out against Arizona’s lawmaker, calling for both Congress and punishment on social media.
