The Dollar TreeThe chain will undergo a major change, which could lead to less disruption for its customers.

That’s because Dollar Tree will start selling items that cost more than a buck, according to The Associated Press

While inflation is partly responsible for rising prices, CEO Michael Witynski asserts that the increase in items costing more than one dollar is designed to give customers more choices.

“For decades, our customers have enjoyed the ‘thrill-of-the-hunt’ for value at one dollar ― and we remain committed to that core proposition ― but many are telling us that they also want a broader product assortment when they come to shop,” Witynski said in a prepared statement.

Already, the chain added an “Dollar Tree Plus” section at some stores, featuring items selling for as much as $5. Products that cost $1.25 to 1.50 are now included in the $1 category.

According to the AP’s speculations, Dollar Tree will have more options and variety if it raises its prices.

But some customers can’t handle the change, based on the reactions of Twitter users.

Some suggested that it might be a good idea to change the name.

A third person felt the need to release another truth bomb.
